What's Beacon?
The SF Beacon Initiative's Mission States:
"The San Francisco Beacon Initiative’s mission is to work at the site and system level to transform public schools into youth and family-centered places of learning. Grounded in the community schools framework, Beacon Centers are committed to a cohesive, comprehensive, and collaborative approach that create pathways to lifelong learning and transformative experiences for youth and the adults who support them through advocacy, leadership, networking, and program support"
How does Beacon support the APG Community?
Early Bird Program (Before-school Support)
Beacon supports your the APG community by providing a space for students to hangout, do homework, and make friends before school
After School Program
The After School Program is in place to provide support to APG families by creating a space for students to do homework, join clubs, make friends, eat supper, make memories, and much more after school
Study Center
Operating during after school, Beacon's Study Center is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the first 45 minutes after the dismissal bell rings
Push-In
Our Beacon staff supports your students beyond before and after school programs, they also operate within the day-school classrooms to provide needed help to students and teachers wherever needed
Clubs
In addition to push-ins, the Beacon Staff supports clubs that operate during day-school hours by providing advising, a space to collaborate, events, and much more
Garden
Run by Teacher Sara, they provide a space where the APG Community can get educated about garden knowledge, hangout with friends, and take time to be surrounded by nature. Teacher Sara provides a resource utilized by science teachers, students, and more beyond the APG Community.
