10 Things to do When You’re Bored (without a screen)

11/8/2017

By Jupiter Johnson
We’ve all been there, staring at the ceiling, wishing we had something to do. Well, hopefully, this list of things to do when you're bored will help you with that boredom, without any screens, phones, iPads, or any technology, whatsoever.
  1. Read a book! Books these days are always in the shadow of video games, or social media. People seem to forget the places they transport us to.
  2. Send a letter! Send a letter to an old friend abroad, a family member, or even to yourself! If you are going to travel soon, you can send yourself a letter, and it will be there when you arrive!
  3. Do your homework! Yes, I know, very boring, but all you procrastinators out there will thank yourselves tomorrow morning.
  4. Bake something! You can take yourself on an exciting culinary adventure. When you're done, you can enjoy the fruits of your own labor
  5. Clean your room! Like homework, you may not enjoy this as you are doing it, but there is nothing like sitting in a perfectly clean room.
  6. Make a movie! Get a simple app on your phone to help come up with a character, a plot, and a setting, and then film! Later in your life, when you are in college or grown up, you can rewatch that movie and bask in the nostalgia of your childhood dreams.
  7. Make someone up! Go out somewhere, find a person, and make up their backstory, their name, and why they are there.
  8. Rip up a bunch of paper! You'd be surprised how fun it is to just sit and rip up paper. I’d recommend newspaper, because it rips into even strips. Try to see how different paper rips in different ways.
  9. Color in a coloring book! See how you can change the image originally intended with the power of color.
  10. Make a list! Write down everything that comes to mind or sort all your thoughts in lists.
