9/23/2019

By Lauren Lew and Cecilia Yong
AP Giannini is a very well known middle school in San Francisco. However, there are a few downsides to attending here, if any. Here are the reasons why you should go to school here and what do watch out for.

Address: 3151 Ortega St, San Francisco, CA 94122
District: San Francisco Unified School District
Phone: (415) 759-2770
Highest grade: Eighth grade
Lowest grade: Sixth grade

PROS Our school is a very big area so you can have a big range of activities..
-Journalism
-Lego Robotics
-Level Up
-Slay Girls
-Student Council
  • Our school garden is taken care very nicely, we even have chickens!
  • Since our school is so big, you can have so many friends.
  • You can meet other people from other schools.
  • All the staff are very welcoming and kind and are willing to help you.
  • Our school really cares about your opinion. That’s why we have a Student  Council, they bring your ideas into account!
  • There are fundraisers where we can sweet treats!
  • You can have opportunities to get something called service points which looks good on your high school applications.
  • Whatever you hobby is, APG most likely has something for you.
  • Each year we have an annual field trip called activity day, and you get to choose where you want to go.

Cons
  • Since it’s such a big school, it’s easy to get lost in the beginning.
  • Now that we moved up from elementary school, it’s possible to get detention for misbehaving.
  •  People are older so there are tougher and being bullied is a possibility.
  • The bathrooms are really dirty and I’ve heard some stalls don’t even have doors. I’ve even seen some ants.
  • Lockers are really hard to use and they can get stuck or hard to do your lock combination and you can get in trouble for being late for your next class.
  • Some teachers don’t give clear instructions, and ignore people.
  • You don’t get breaks between classes.
  • Every Wednesday with rare occasions to skip, we have run-day which is where we run big laps.
  • As you get older, more work is expected, so  there is more homework and things to remember.
  • You can’t bring your own stuff because the teachers fear you’re gonna kill someone with it.
